Scalar Non-luminous Matter in Galaxies

چکیده
As a candidate for dark matter in galaxies, we study an SU(3) triplet of complex scalar fields which are non-minimally coupled to gravity. In the spherically symmetric static spacetime where the flat rotational velocity curves of stars in galaxies can be explained, we find simple solutions of scalar fields with SU(3) global symmetry broken to U(1) × U(1), in an exponential scalar potential, which will be useful in a quintessence model of the late-time acceleration of the Universe.

Ultralight Scalars and Spiral Galaxies
We study some possible astrophysical implications of a very weakly coupled ultralight dilaton-type scalar field. Such a field may develop an (approximately stable) network of domain walls. The domain wall thickness is assumed to be comparable with the thickness of the luminous part of the spiral galaxies. The walls provide trapping for galactic matter. This is used to motivate the very existenc...
متن کامل2 00 6 Global monopole , dark matter and scalar tensor theory
In this article, we discuss the space-time of a global monopole field as a candidate for galactic dark matter in the context of scalar tensor theory. It is believed that our Universe in the past was denser and hotter. So the early stage of the Universe was in a systematic phase and there were no topological defects. As the Universe expands, it cools down from its hot initial state [1-3]. So the...
متن کاملStellar Populations in the Central Galaxies of Fossil Groups
It is inferred from the symmetrical and luminous X-ray emission of fossil groups that they are mature, relaxed galaxy systems. Cosmological simulations and observations focusing on their dark halo and inter-galactic medium properties confirm their early formation. Recent photometric observations suggest that, unlike the majority of non-fossil brightest group galaxies (BGGs), the central early-t...
متن کاملSinglet scalar dark matter in noncommutative space
In this paper, we examine the singlet scalar dark matter annihilation to becoming the Standard Model particles in the non-commutative space. In the recent decades, many candidates of dark matter have been offered, but our information about the nature of dark matter is still limited. There are such particle candidates as scalar matetr, fermion, boson, gauge boson, etc.; however, they have nei...
متن کاملTesting the Self-Consistency of MOND With Three Dimensional Galaxy Kinematics
We propose a technique to test the idea that non-standard dynamics, rather than dark matter halos, might be responsible for the observed rotation curves of spiral galaxies. In the absence of non-luminous matter, a galactic disk’s rotational velocity and its vertical velocity dispersion can be used jointly to test the self-consistency of the galaxy’s dynamics. A specific illustrative example, us...
